shopping: usa 1 aus 0

here are just a few of the shops i fell slightly in love with while abroad.

urban outfitters.

such a cool shop. i wanted to buy every quirky little thing in there, namely the books. the one thing i did allow myself to buy was an illustrated book called 'cats are weird and other observations'. it's pretty amazing. i have been to the urban outfitters online store hundreds of times, dreaming of potential purchases, however it was only when i got back home that i realised i had been into their physical store. even though i knew the name i just didn't make the connection at the time. fyi the real life store is just as cool.

website
pinkberry.

a delicious frozen yogurt shop. i had one for dessert on my last night. mango with fresh strawberry, mango and kiwifruit. yummo! why don't we have these?

website
abercrombie and fitch.

i always want to say finch for some reason. walking into this shop was like stepping into a room full of super hot californian models. not fair. especially when you are served by a stunning, skinny girl who is complaining to her equally gorgeous coworker about how fat she feels even though all she drinks is vodka and water. maybe i should give it a try.

kitson.

kitson was one of my favorites. i only learned after i had been that stars go there! look out, i think that makes me almost famous. it was a bit like urban outfitters but with more of a gift focus. it had really different things. i bought a super cute coaster set with little iconic drawings on each, an iphone case that looks like an old school camera, some retro looking postcards and some 'i heart la' mints. i won't go into what i almost bought!

website
sephora.

oh sephora, how can you be so cheap? don't you know what we pay back home? i think this is where i possibly spent the most money. even though make up is probably the thing i need least. i do get the big deal now though.

website

brandy melville.

everything i touched in their santa monica store was so soft and the colours were beautiful. pastel pinks and blues and all shades of grey. they also had a really different store fit out. in this picture you can not only see some of their lovely clothes but also the santa monica pier, which we went to!

website

bloomingdale's.

i didn't really care what i bought, so long as i got to take home a little brown bag. i didn't know department stores could be so exciting! everything seemed to sparkle in there. it was also surreal to see it in the flesh after hearing so much about it (and some of the above) during my time at myer. don't you love the american cab in the background of this! i do.

website

see's candies.

lu was very excited to find that this was the first store we came across during our trip to south coast plaza. apparently see's is very well known there, especially come valentines day. all i know is that their chocolate is to die for. and if you act interested enough in a certain kind they will give you a free sample. 'would you like to try?' 'yes please.'
