holidays

i am on holidays for one week and one day as of today. and i couldn't be happier. i'm also going to be taking a holiday from my blog. so to love you and leave you, and to make you extremely jealous, i'm parting with this picture of the stunning fitzroy island where alyce and i will be visiting next week. so beautiful.

the adventure begins

to melbourne!

i'm flying to melbourne tomorrow

my second home and i'm very excited

i'm looking forward to seeing familiar places and faces

lunch with romina

drinks with myer friends

shopping with myself

breakfast and twilight with shona

josh and lu's engagement party

sleepover at kathleens

coffee with a very pregnant ariella

dinner with my aunties and cousins

lots of other adventures

i'm also highly excited about hiring a car for the first time

i'm not excited to pay for it but it will be worth every penny

i hope i can remember all the streets

i remember teaching my sister to do hook turns in my car one year

that was scary!

i'm sure i will get very sentimental on everyone

and feel extremely nostalgic 

melbourne holds so many amazing memories

it's only when you look back on photos that you think

gosh that was a fun time in my life

so let the adventure begin!

but first, i must pack

i need to do washing, but when?
last day of work tomorrow!
looking forward to being in melbourne again.
i'll get to meet shona's puppies.
and see twilight.
and catch up with friends, like a very pregnant ariella.
and see my loved up friends at their engagement party.
can't wait to see my sister in cairns.
not looking forward to all that driving though.
had a lovely dinner with ash and john tonight.
i could listen to their stories all night long.
can someone pack for me?
i need to create and stick to a budget this month.
but i have paid off my car!
had a bit of a sad week.
need to get back into a positive frame of mind again.
more exercise, healthy eating, lots of sleep.
maybe after my holiday.
i want to stop blogging but when?
maybe i'll finish it on the last day of december.
is it really almost december?
this will be my second christmas since i moved home.
where has my nail polish remover gotten to?
the mirror in my room broke today, not good.
why aren't i in bed?
i wish i had tomorrow off too!
i would sleep in, do washing, pack.
did this post help take my mind off things?
not really.
i should not be allowed to blog when tired or lonely.
i just need to remember, this too shall pass.

i'm trying to match the amount of ice creams consumed

with the equivalent amount of posts about... ice cream!

not good!

good thing i played touch football tonight. on my way home i remembered i also had a mango lick (delicious frozen icy mango in a cup) at the eumundi markets on saturday morning. yep, you did the maths correctly, five ice creams in two days. not good jessica, not good.

guilty pleasure

i wasn't kidding when i said the weekend was spent eating ice cream (a few posts below)

i had more than one triple swirl paddle pop (from memory i had 2)

then there was a gelatissimo veronese chocolate in a waffle cone

and finally a lemon sorbet scoop in a kids cone at rach's house

in my defence... it was hot and it was over the course of two days.

i think i decided 'why not', it's my life and it's the weekend and if i

want to have copious amounts of ice cream i'm going to go for it!

however i'm now planning on exercising each night this week to make up for it! ah the guilt!

up-do's

 just a little bit obsessed with up-do's of late

my hair is getting longer and lighter by the day

but i am far off any of these little numbers

yes, let's

what a wonderful weekend. it feels like summer already.

saturday and sunday consisted of lounging by the pool, 

eating mangoes and ice cream, reading, seeing family, 

catching up with old friends, swimming at the beach,

soaking up the beautiful weather and so much more. 

i am very lucky to have grown up in noosa and love

going home. i plan on spending all summer there!

turkey and cranberry sauce (lunch today)

roast lamb and mint sauce (simply delicious)

leg ham and chutney (christmas is coming)

roast pork and apple sauce (my favourite)

scones and strawberry jam (grandma's speciality)

celery and peanut butter (kind of healthy) 

how good do all of the above go together?

wonderfully if you ask me! which you didn't...

but i've had food on the brain all weekend and 

i am feeling grateful for these combinations!

so here i am expressing my gratitude to spreads.

a significant day for many reasons. 

we were given a poppy at my grandad john's funeral earlier this year.

i am wearing the same poppy today for remembrance day. 

you were so special and you are missed.

feeling fruity

is it just me or is it extra hot tonight?

i'm having a frosty fruit for dinner!

this weekend i'm heading to noosa.

the sun will be out and i'll be poolside.

 i'm also having drinks with old friends,

troy, carey and kat and one new friend

the beautiful miss brydie, carly's cousin.

it's going to be a brilliant weekend!

now to just get through tomorrow. 

mango tuesday

last night i was dreaming of europe and one day having a white christmas but tonight all i can think about is a hot and tropical destination like this! maybe it's because i had a mango today. yummm. you know summer is approaching when stone fruit start popping up in fruit shops. how good does this look! tonight i went for a run (not a long one!) and afterwards hung out with some possums in our courtyard. now i am contemplating running a bath. bliss!

raining car problems

when it rains, it pours. 

this is what my friend anna said to me today at work. 

i was telling her about the dramas i had with my car over the weekend. 

first my left hand side mirror was kicked off by someone in the city on friday night. frustrating but not the end of the world. then on sunday somehow my fan belt broke which lead to the overheating of my engine. there was steam coming out of the bonnet and everything! i then thought i would be able to drive it to a nearby mechanic this morning however when i tried my battery was completely flat. so two racq visits, a few calls to dad and over $400 later my car is currently in a work shop on and on it's way to being fixed. i love my car dearly but it sure is expensive. only recently i paid $500 for a range of different things including a service and two new tyres. it still needs the other two replaced as well as something else to be looked at that i can't recall the name of. then there is the fuel, registration, insurance, parking and actually paying it off! so yes, i am starting to question my rash 'i want a shiny black 4wd' decision! 

ohhh... i feel terrible saying that.

movie night!

mum and i are having a saturday night in tonight!

she came down this afternoon for some mother daughter time.

we had beautiful thai takeaway for dinner and are about to watch 500 days of summer.

i love this movie to pieces and know she will too!

what a week!

wow, what a week. i feel physically exhausted it has been so huge. work wise, life wise, everything! i know that doesn't really give much away but i'm just putting it out there that this week has been eventful in more ways than one and it has taken it out of me! i am planning a weekend of rest and relaxation to fully recharge my batteries. i hope everyone had a lovely week and that it was less dramatic than mine. i haven't even had time to tell my best girfriends what's been going on. i've also been out of touch with people for the past two weeks while my iphone was being fixed. tonight i raced through chermside shopping centre at closing time and had to bang on the door of vodafone, begging them to let me pick up my phone. so i am really looking forward to reigniting my love affair with texting and finding out what everyone has been up to. it's also only two weeks until i board a plane to melbourne for josh and lu's engagement party. i can't believe how quickly it has come around and i am so so so so so so excited to see them and everyone. ok well i am off for what i believe is a much needed and well deserved drink. happy friday all!

gosh roses are beautiful. there will be so many big beautiful roses in full bloom at flemington racecourse today for the melbourne cup. each major race day in the spring racing carnival has a dedicated flower. melbourne cup day is a yellow rose, oaks day is a pink rose and stakes day is a red rose. just lovely.
