do unto others

i found a phone in a cab last night. kind of ironic seeing as i've lost 5 mobile phones in the last twelve months and not a single one was handed back to me. 2 were left in a cab, 1 on a tram and another 2 were stolen. i fully accept that it was my own fault each time however the fact that out of five instances there was not a single person willing to hand the phone in or attempt to contact me was devastating, and even more so each time it happened. it made me realise that i had too much faith in others. i've always felt that there is more good in the world than bad and that most people are honest and have some form of conscience. each time i lost a phone though, i started to think otherwise. as for me, regardless of the fact that i know what it feels like to loose not one, but five phones, i will always do the right thing. we all should. 'do unto others as you would have them do unto you'. (oh, and just in case, have insurance!)
