mastering masterchef
whether you like to bake or just enjoy sampling the end result, you will love these food blogs.
there is something for everyone. the pictures alone are heavenly looking and full of flavour.
so how do i know about this whole other blog universe? sadly i'm no true 'foodie' so can't take credit.
the frankie mag newsletter features a different one in each issue, accompanied by a lovely pic.
i'm quite taken with this newsletter. it arrives in my work inbox every now and then.
it's certainly a nice surprise and change from work emails, of which there are many.
i hope you enjoy these as much i as i did. they've inspired me to get baking of late.
i love how creative cooking can be, whether it's a cute plate, dollop of cream or the
perfect strawberry fan (which i am yet to master), you are a master chef for that moment.
'there is something beautiful about the baking process. the way flour feels in your hands or the sound of eggs cracking on the edge of a bowl. baking is a gathering of interesting materials, a mixed medium art piece of sorts, that ends in a cake instead of a canvas.'

tennis
tonight i played tennis with matt, jason and matt's friend dan.
we played last week too and i am really enjoying it.
much better than running on a treadmill at the gym.
if only the outfits were still this cute.

has anyone seen the moon over the last few days?
it looks just like this only tilted up on the left to be flat.
it seemed to me like the moon was smiling down on us.
this is my last blog post for the day, i am about to shut my eyes.
i haven't been tired up until now, hence so many new posts.
i still have more ideas but they will have to wait.

baby shower invitation
tonight i received an invitation to a baby shower for bridget, kathleen's sister.
i am highly excited for three reasons. 1. i get to be a part of bridget's baby day.
2. i get to see the ever wonderful kathleen and 3. i love baby shower games!
i am very much looking forward to it, plus it's next weekend so there's no wait!

wedding love
ever since i found out that josh and lu are to be wed, my mind wanders to weddings more often than usual. now don't get too excited, there will be no wedding bells ringing in my own immediate future. as in love with weddings as i am, i have very little thoughts about my own wedding than you might think. instead i prefer to observe and admire from afar. i don't know what style my wedding would be, nor what my dress would look like. i do know that it won't be in a church. my friend romina from melbourne always told me that she could see me on a beach with no shoes and blonde hair flowing. i love the thought of getting married somewhere really special and sentimental. i sometimes imagine myself somehow getting permission to have my wedding at our old dath henderson road property. i have so many memories there and i am a true country girl at heart. i love to look at pictures of eclectic weddings, lots of colour and mis matching things, however i'm not sure if i would do it myself. i think this wedding is beautiful, found at pinterest. i then came across this gorgeous wedding blog style me pretty, the further you scroll the better it gets. matt thinks i should be a wedding planner (if only) but i try to explain to him that there are far more amazingly talented people, brimming with creativity and coming up with cute ideas that i would just never think of. here is a perfect example.

paper straws
while out about on my weekend (a weekend just for me!) i saw these gorgeous paper straws. i must be liking the paper things of late! i didn't buy but i did admire.

paper flowers
today i spent the morning in the lovely suburb paddington. i had forgotten just how much i love it. we lived there in an old queenslander for a couple of years while at uni. many of the shops and cafes that i used to visit regularly are still there plus, much to my delight, there are now lots of new ones. one of the stores we popped into called jean and joyce had these beautiful tissue paper flowers displayed throughout. they weren't for sale however i did get a quick run down on how they are made.
i found these step by step instructions online and i am going to make some the next time we host a tea party or if we end up doing a champagne breakfast for the exhibition races. enjoy!
the finished product:
choose colours inspired by your event.
step 1:
stack eight sheets of tissue.
make 1 1/2-inch-wide accordion folds, creasing with each fold.
step 2:
fold an 18-inch piece of floral wire in half, and slip over center of folded tissue; twist.
with scissors, trim ends of tissue into rounded or pointy shapes.

antique heaven
as you can see today i was in homewares heaven.
i paid a little visit to the lovely wooloongabba antique store.
i was very tempted to by a truck load of white washed furniture.
they have a mix of old and new, with plenty of amazing finds to be had.
some things can be expensive (we are talking antiques after all) but there are bargains to be had.
in the photo with the washing container you can see the corner of a turquoise cushion.
this is now in my bedroom and looks gorgeous, the perfect splash of colour on my white bedspread.
i loved the old school blackboard however i do not have a spare $495 or a place to put it!
they had other cute smaller blackboards that were made from picture frames.
i think it would look cool with chalk scribbled notes and messages.
in melbourne the people in the apartment across to us had a whole wall done blackboard paint.
the table with the white legs and wooden top is very similar to one i scored on the weekend.
a neighbour of matt's had it out on their lawn, i couldn't believe my eyes!
everything else i just loved the look of, like the paper flower wall hanging.
who wants to come with me next time?
