nye 2010

it's new year's eve! i still have no idea how i will be welcoming 2011 in yet. hopefully i get to see some fireworks, light a sparkler or pop a party popper. something new years eve-y! my blog profile picture is actaully from new years eve last year! i'm currently sitting at work, waiting to be told that we can leave. i want to spend some time in the sun on this beautiful last day of 2010. it's been quite the whirlwind year, especially the second half. i almost can't believe that i am actually living and working in queensland, back permanently with all of my loved ones. i think it hit home a little bit this week when i started at filling out forms to get a new queensland drivers licence and new registration for my car. on the rego application i requested the 'the sunshine state' number plate. looking outside, it is certainly true today.

wednesday night

my wednesday night was spent at the shafston pub (my new local!) with anna and her lovely friend amanda. much to my surprise and delight it was parma night and there was trivia! not that i'm a trivia queen or anything but it was great fun and i am already planning on going again soon with the girls or maybe even matt and his housemates. the more brains the better! on another note, work was very quiet today. just another reminder that i should still be on holidays! hopefully this week goes quick.. i still can't believe it's almost a new year. no new years plans yet so i could be welcoming it quietly. perhaps an early night with my book and blog.

i seriously do not want to leave noosa to go back to work. i know i have that long drive ahead of me, in the pouring rain no less, and i am dreading it. it has rained for four days straight making it feel far from a holiday. needless to say i am fed up and cranky! i feel like shouting at the sky 'enough already!' :(

so far...

it's almost a new year! soon i will sit down to write the list of things i'd like to achieve and change in 2011... although probably won't! luckily i've already made a start on this list. when i started my blog i wrote down a few things i wanted to do within 12 months. these were to buy a new car, go overseas, buy an SLR camera and learn about photography, do a triathlon and complete some more study. i've got the new car and i've done (only just!) a tri. so, the overseas trip, study of some kind and my new hobby in photography still stand. stay posted for my progress on these, and many more, as i continue to blog as often as possible in the new year.

fast approaching!

christmas is fast approaching! cards are arriving, the first of presents are being opened and it's starting to feel festive at last! i still have lots of shopping to do so i think i'm going to have to go one night when they do midnight or 24 hour trading. i wish i was more organised but work has been taking over my life of late. i am so busy, i can't wait to walk out the door on friday. tonight k, nim and i swapped pressies and i scored some amazing stuff. a new sportsgirl lipgloss.. very nice and good timing too as my current one (also sportsgirl!) is running out, 2 new pairs of pj's.. i can never have enough cute sleepwear and a set of white wine glasses, complete with a bottle of wine! it was a lovely night and a great amount of cheese was consumed. oh well, it is christmas after all! tis' the season to be jolly... and eat lots... right?

picking up my baby tomorrow (my new car!) and i couldn't be more excited! tonight i'm going to charge my laptop, pack some dvd's and books, buy some snacks and just mentally prepare for the 6 hour train trip there and the 6 hour drive back! it will be very worth it though, this car is everything i want and more. i'm in l♥ve.

friends

totally missed last nights post!! was too busy folding my entire wardobe of clothes while watching episodes of friends (i pulled them all out looking for something earlier in the week and then just shoved them all back in!). i could watch friends non stop. i'm up to the episode where chandler proposes to monica. i wish i didn't have to go christmas shopping tonight and that i could just go home and curl up in bed with my laptop and my 'friends'.

good morning!

i was up so early this morning! this is great. i can take my time getting ready, watch sunrise, eat breaky and just generally relax. today is a beautiful day. i woke up to the bluest sky. i should really go for a morning walk or something. my street is filled with frangipani's and summer is certainly in the air on days like this. i just wish i didn't have to go to work each day so i could enjoy the good weather. i don't even have a tan yet and i've been back for 3 months!

key moment

tonight i had dinner with matt's family to celebrate jason's graduation from uni. we went to a place in new farm called himalayan cafe. the food was amazing and so was the atmosphere. we were sprawled out on cushions and carpet while sipping champagne and eating an array of delicious food. i was extremely tired so wasn't very lively but i still throughly enjoyed the night. matt's mum made a beautiful little speech for jason. she's so proud of what all her of kids have achieved and i love watching her admiration for them. the graduation ceremony is tomorrow so no doubt there will be lots of photos, as most of us have experienced first hand! graduating is one of the best feelings i've experienced. to know that i don't have to go back to study for a long time floods me with relief every time. despite my love and longing for uni holidays i don't miss much about it. i am so glad that i did it though. without my degree i wouldn't have been able to do the graduate program and wouldn't have gone on to meet such wonderful people in melbourne. that's what i think about the most when i look at that very expensive piece of paper. where it's got me, not what i had to go through to get it. although that is also a huge part of it... many hours were spent at the qut computer lab the night before an assignment was due! i've decided to frame and give my degree to my dad for christmas as a side pressie. he can hang it in the garage or something and i can admire it when i come home. for me graduating was one of those key moments in life, alongside things like getting your licence, buying a house, getting married and having a baby. most of which i am still yet to achieve! anyway that's enough about me (except for the below pic! wearing a mortarboard is the smartest i've ever looked and felt) this post is about congratulating jase. i really have no idea how he worked and studied full time but i do know it will be worth every painful second and every hour spent in the computer lab.
